Alcohol Innk Painting by Suzanne Mamedalin

Alcohol Ink Painting Workshop

SAA member Suzanne Mamedalin led a workshop on alcohol ink painting at the Lake Shastina Community Center on May 20, 2017. An example of Suzanne's work is shown on the left. Alcohol ink is a relatively new medium. The inks are acid-free, fast-drying transparent dyes used to create colorful, polished stone effects. They can be used on glossy paper, metal, shrink plastic, glass, and other slick surfaces.

Twenty local artists participated in the workshop. Photos from this impressively well-organized and highly successful workshop are shown below. All participants produced multiple pieces of art on a step-by-step progression of surfaces. Most supplies were provided, including 4-inch x 4-inch boards, which will be used for paintings donated for the silent auction at SAA's 60th Annual Art Show. Proceeds from the auction are used for SAA's annual scholarship for local art students.
